Susan M. Sajadi
Susan M. Sajadi joined Burke PLLC, in June 2009. She focuses on general commercial and complex civil litigation, specializing in False Claims Act cases. Susan’s work includes all facets of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, including representing whistleblowers against defense contractors, military personnel and contractors who have been harmed by negligent contracting practices, and Abu Ghraib torture victims. Susan manages every aspect of litigation, from initial client meetings through settlement or trial.
Previously an associate at Sidley Austin LLC in New York, Susan worked in the general litigation practice and capital markets groups representing major financial institutions, hedge funds and pharmaceutical companies in multi-district litigations and SEC investigations. While at Sidley, she also participated extensively in pro bono projects and won asylum cases on behalf of an Afghan woman and a Haitian refugee.
Prior to her legal career, Susan worked at The Wall Street Journal and The Oxford Business Group, both in Istanbul, Turkey. She is fluent in Farsi.
Susan received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2005, where she was a member of the Articles Review Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law. She earned her B.S. degree in Foreign Service cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2000 and conducted thesis work, for which she received honors, on universal human rights standards in Africa.
